Probe Stopped Short

It's good to see that the ReThugs in congress criticized the callous, inept response to Katrina. However, as the Times-Picayune reports, it should have gone much farther.

"A House Republican report that says investigators were left scratching their heads 'at the range of clumsiness and ineptitude' that characterized the government's response to Hurricane Katrina should have gone further, two Democrats who participated in the probe said Sunday. The Louisiana congressmen said the House panel should have demanded the ouster of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and should have subpoenaed documents from the Bush administration."

Emphasis added.
