I do remember &, well, find this all too hard.
"Wilson Pickett, whose rough-edged singing style during the 1960s helped define the voice of soul music, died of a heart attack in a hospital near his Virginia home, it was announced today. He was 64.
Known for such songs as 'In the Midnight Hour,' and 'Mustang Sally,' Pickett poured a grainy passion into soul for almost half a century. His life, from gospel music in an Alabama church to an initial success in Detroit to his return to his Southern music roots, was the archetype of the African American musical experience in the later part of the 20th century."
