Moderates?

I'd like to see some moderates in the ReThug Party. The three that AP reporter Anne Plummer Flaherty mentions - Warner, McCain, Graham - are about as far away from being moderate as a carp is from a trout & I mean no offense to carp. What the hell is she thinking?
GOP moderates in the Senate - including Sens. John W. Warner of Virginia, John McCain of Arizona and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina - have said they are open to using the military's court-martial system as a template to build a new court system to prosecute detainees.

This shows how wacked out the mainstream Republicans have become if John Warner passes as a moderate.

I listen to the entire Senate hearing yesterday (rebroadcast)

I agree Warner,McCain and Graham are not repug moderates however in this case at least Graham was taking the "moderate" postion in the range of positions expressed yesterday.

Ted Olson (former Solicitor General Bush admin 2001-04) was pissed at the SCOTUS results in Hamden v Rumsfeld. He wants to further restrict detainee rights.

Others felt most detainees could be released.

Graham wants to use the the UCMJ as a starting point for establishing a "court system" for detainees. he contains it's a tested system with 50 years experience.

The bush admin wants congress to codify the current illegal system that Rumsfeld setup.

So in this small incident Graham was the "moderate".

On the plus side for John Warner, that thing with Elizabeth Taylor was pretty cool.
