Dave Zien, Are You In?

I just passed my Basic Motorcycle Safety Course yesterday. I took the course to avoid talking a behind the handlebars test, given that my bike is a big, old bagger that is tough to handle at very slow speeds. But I learned a lot in the course, both the classroom & on the parking lot sections. One of the things you learn, both in the course & when you take the written, more precisely, the touch screen test, for your temporary permit, is that you will die. You are required to wear a helmet with your temps in Wisconsin, but Dave Zien has continually worked against helmets. Here's some stats that even the oft injured without a helmet Zien will have trouble explaining away:
Motorcycle fatalities involving riders without helmets have soared in the nearly six years since Gov. Jeb Bush repealed the state's mandatory helmet law, a newspaper reported Sunday.

A Florida Today analysis of federal motorcycle crash statistics found "unhelmeted'' deaths in Florida rose from 22 in 1998 and 1999, the years before the helmet law repeal, to 250 in 2004, the most recent year of available data.

Total motorcycle deaths in the state have increased 67 percent, from 259 in 2000 to 432 in 2004, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration statistics.

It's part of the plan. Work pay into Social Security die young and never collect. Leave it to the RePugs.

Stands to reason that Zien doesn't wear a helmet other than the tin foil type.
