I don't like this. I was hoping for a bit of a respite, but now there is no reason for Bush to do the right thing, i.e., appoint a judge for all of America, not just his rancid supporters. He's so far down that he needs to throw some red meat to his base, just to keep him above 35%. But he won't appoint someone with the country in mind. Nova Scotia calls calmly, once again.

I truly don't think "throwing red meat to the base" is an option. Bush's base is a vocal minority. To improve his stance and his numbers as he will now be looking to that all important legacy (his immortal reputation sure as hell won't be ellevated by the Iraq experience) With that in mind I believe that he will certainly choose a conservative but, the choice will most likely be a woman and will come with a clean and outstanding record.RLK
