Coco Robicheaux, R.I.P.

He's dead, damnit; he's in the Spiritland.

Here's a short post by Mark Folse, a New Orleans writer/blogger.  It sums Coco up really well.
New Orleans musical and spiritual icon Coco Robicheaux is walking with the ancestors. One candle goes out and a thousand new are lighted in mourning and memory. Go with sage and sweet grass, go with a song and a bottle, go with a guitar in hand and bring New Orleans to the spirit land.

“I had to use my voice and hands/To make the music of the spirit land.”
– Coco Robicheaux

I saw Mr. Robicheaux at Jazz Fest several years ago & completely enjoyed his music.  I was able to personally thank him, things are wonderfully casual & sincere in New Orleans.  & his hair was longer than Crystal Gayle's. & he was really cool in an appearance in Treme, a post-Katrina series on HBO (y'all should really watch this show), rooster blood everywhere.  Another thing that's bad is that he was only two years older than I am, makes me worry.

Yes, Virginia, There Is An Undefeated Packers Team This Year - 11 & 0

The refs were good.  Even the dirtiest player in the NFL, Stompin' Suh, couldn't keep the Pack from victory.  Things that Suh does should just not be allowed.  I was glad the guy was ejected & hope he is suspended for the rest of the regular season.  Fines & talk don't seem to have much effect.  & maybe a psychiatrist would be in order, just listen to his explanation of what happened.  Divorced from reality? More like divorced from earth.

Water Anyone?

Bad - Fish Declining -- Really Bad - Lousy Metaphor

Effects of climate change to further degrade fisheries resources
"Fisheries are already providing fewer fish and making less money than they could if we curbed overfishing," says Rashid Sumaila, principal investigator of the Fisheries Economics Research Unit at UBC and lead author of the study. "We could be earning interest, but instead we're fishing away the capital. Climate change is likely to cause more losses unless we choose to act."

Sports Beat Plus A Note On White Tail Deer Hunting

UW Badgers win 28-17. Refs appeared competent.

Packers win 35-26, but it was only pretty in spots. Refs up the the task, this week.

Yes, deer hunting. The Wisco gun deer season opened yesterday & I dreamt of a nine point buck walking past my blind & then when the time came, I let him pass. It was just a dream. In reality, I stayed indoors since it snowed quite a bit & I could not find my warm winter pacs. That my story & I'm sticking to it.

Health Matters, Yes, It Matters Quite A Bit

If the research shows hearing loss to be a health problem, why won't the goddamn insurance companies cover the cost of hearing aids? I used to think that the insurance companies felt that people themselves were responsible, since they could wear hearing protection, but I've changed my mind since so much hearing loss is due to things beyond an individual's control. I know, I have significant hearing loss, but right now can't afford the four thousand dollars it will take to get hearing aids in both ears. So I just go along nodding, asking several times to have someone repeat what they've said & continue arguing with mrs. coldH2Owi that I have convenient hearing loss.

Sports Beat - Ha

Oh, & the refs were pretty good. Packers win.

Do It, Don't Fret About It, Just Do It

& when you're done, basking in the afterglow, you will realize what a wonderful thing you've done.  Go join a credit union.

Yes, it's been true that I've let the Creek run a bit low lately, but things are about to change.  You really don't want a list or a litany of the cause(s) of the lapse, do you?  Didn't think so.  So here is one answer to the dry creek question.

I now own a Macbook so I am working on becoming a creative fucking genius.  It comes with the Apple, you see.  So here is one more video for y'all:
