Another reason to be embarassed by the idiots running the legislature. How did this happen in a state that has such a great history in terms of public employees? I hate these bastards.
Robert Carpick, an associate engineering physics professor and nanotechnology researcher who has generated $3.4 million in external grants since joining UW-Madison in 2000, informed his boss and colleagues of his decision earlier this summer. He told them the absence of the benefits and the Legislature's push to ban gay marriage were behind his decision to take a job at the University of Pennsylvania. Penn offers same-sex benefits, as do all of the Big 10 universities except Wisconsin.
....
Sen. Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau), co-chairman of the Joint Finance Committee, said as long as it was dominated by Republicans, the Legislature would never authorize the benefits. Some oppose them on moral grounds, he said, believing that benefits should go only to married couples and that marriage should be limited to heterosexual couples.
This is the face of evil in the Wisconsin legislature.
