Same as above. The white velcro circle has a partner on the other side of the baby's head. It's for the attachment of a visor, to protect the eyes from the light, very Star Wars.*

Congrats on Grandfathership. Babies have been more fascinating for me lately since my partner and I are expecting late Dec. I hope everything continues to go well for your grandkids.
