Evolution & Sexual Organs

I know, I know, some of my readers just hate this science stuff, but, too bad. Here's an interesting piece of the evolution of duck sex organs. & yes, it seems fitting since I saw my first ever wild Canvasback drake yesterday. One thing in the article made me slap my forehead while exclaiming "Ya think?" Here is the paragraph.

Dr. McCracken, who discovered the longest known bird phallus on an Argentine duck in 2001, is struck by the fact that it was a woman who discovered the complexity of female birds. “Maybe it’s the male bias we all have,” he said. “It’s just been out there, waiting to be discovered.”

Awfully male of you, Dr. McCracken. No jokes please.  My emphasis.
