"I have been thinking about Fat Tuesday since this disaster began to collapse all around us. Mardi Gras will be a sign of undying spirit so evident in the city of wonder. Sometime somebody is going to come up with a Lance Armstrongarmed bracelet for the victims of Katrina. I would say save the money on the bracelets, give as much money as you can to the restoration of the city, its noble spirit, and glorious people. And think about wearing a string [of] Mardi Gras beads now to keep the spirit and the memory alive. Let the good times roll."
