Farve throws an 82 yard touchdown pass on the first play of overtime to beat the Broncos. I give all the credit to The Twins, who, while sleeping at the present time, did wear their cool Packer cheerleader outfits earlier in the evening. Goddamn, finally something positive this fall.

NOLA Food
Via Adrastos we get this nice piece on a New Orleans institution, Commander's Palace. The food looks great. While I was in NOLA, this was one spot I, unfortunately, was unable to enjoy, every other place with food was great. & if you note the prices, they aren't so half bad.

Universal Health Care
Like:
-Two in three say they haven't benefited from the Bush tax cuts....
-A majority of Americans say they would tolerate higher taxes -- if it paid for universal health care....
-60% said they would be willing to repeal tax cuts to help pay for a health-care program that insures all Americans....
-52% vs 36% favored health and education spending as a better economic stimulus than tax cuts....
This just shows how intelligent the majority of the American public is, regarding health & Bu$hCo's stupid tax policy.

Doddmania, Indeed
Via Atrios, there is this email from Chris Dodd. I implore my loyal four readers to get involved in denying the telecoms their blanket immunity for cooperating, illegally, with the criminal Bu$hCo administration. Accountability is key, even for ReThugs.

This Is Good
& I'm rethinking who I'm supporting. Via First Draft.
Ouch on the emphasis, which is mine.
Clinton and Obama are probably still arguing about the correct diplomatic etiquette for public discussions of bombing our allies. This strange, shrill and unBroderian spectacle is what was once called “leadership”. Dodd has my vote, and my cash, and my time. Hint, hint.
Ouch on the emphasis, which is mine.

Assholes
Via Atrios we have this honest post from Whiskey Fire It is amazing just how low these rightwingers will go in defending their idiot President. They really are the shame of America.

In My Opinion
This is a direct result of Ronny Reagan's election as President & the ensuing ReThug control of Congress & the stolen election of George W. Bu$hCo. Prove me wrong moron-cons.

Laugh, Laugh
It all started here. It was then picked up by the ever non-serious Dependable Renegade. She then took us here. Given what's been going on around coldH2Oland, the country, & the world, I sure needed a laugh. I sure wish they were still on the teevee. Saturday mornings used to be great.

Lying ReThug Rich White Boy
Any creature with a brain knew the rich, white ReThug President of Blackwater was lying, now evidence is piling up. I wonder whether our dickhead, loser of a President will have them prosecuted or protected? & I also have a bridge to sell you....
The three witnesses, Kurds on a rooftop overlooking the scene, said they had observed no gunfire that could have provoked the shooting by Blackwater guards. American soldiers who arrived minutes later found shell casings from guns used normally by American contractors, as well as by the American military.
....
The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak about the matter, added that soldiers found clear evidence that the Blackwater guards had not been threatened and had also opened fire on civilians who tried to flee the scene. “The cartridges and casings we found were all associated with coalition forces and contractors,” the official said. “The only brass we found where somebody fired weapons were ones from contractors.”
Frankly, the whole company ought to be imprisoned for life. My emphasis.

Rain & 40 Degrees Farenheit
Posting has been irregular around here lately. There have been reasons, as usual. The biggest reason, however,is that Mrs. coldH2o has thyroid cancer. Last week half of her thyroid was removed, but the pathologists couldn't decide whether or not the tissue was malignant. They sent the tissue down to the Mayo Clinic & they confirmed that is was indeed cancer, a rare variant of papillary cancer. She will have the rest of her thyroid removed next week. This has been hard on her, since she is used to being the caregiver & isn't a very good patient. The Twins have been visitors through all of this, so that's been a benefit. This is not to mention that the day after her surgery, I apparently got a virus in my head & that the next day I started a three injection treatment of chicken comb stuff for my knees & that I will schedule arthroscopic surgery for some torn cartilage in my shoulder much later this fall. Oh, yeah, & my intact male Gordon Setter has a big, old swelling on an ankle & I paid $200 to not know what caused it. I do have a bottle of antibiotics, a $200 bottle of antibiotics, sitting on the counter. He is an extremely stoic guy, like a dog I had a few years ago, & there appears to be no pain, & I squeezed that joint hard. We're all walking wounded, but we're held together by our complete contempt for Bu$hCo & Cheney.

Bee Love & I Mean Love
This is just what my friend Shutterwi needs to read on the night before some pretty major heart related surgery. It's better than going to a strip club, more interesting, as well.
The success of the "reign" of a honey bee queen appears to be determined to a large degree by the number of times she mates with drone bees.More here.
Surge? What Is It Good For?
Absolutely nothing. So the architects of the new & improved Iraqi war policy are once again proved to be completely wrong, yet it is us, the Dirty Fucking Hippies who are wrong. Up is down, alright & it's raining & the Packers lost & the Badgers lost & a dear friend is going in for heart surgery & other news isn't good this a.m.
Iraqi leaders argue that sectarian animosity is entrenched in the structure of their government. Instead of reconciliation, they now stress alternative and perhaps more attainable goals: streamlining the government bureaucracy, placing experienced technocrats in positions of authority and improving the dismal record of providing basic services.
"I don't think there is something called reconciliation, and there will be no reconciliation as such," said Deputy Prime Minister Barham Salih, a Kurd. "To me, it is a very inaccurate term. This is a struggle about power."

No Problem, Right?
I am the walrus, coo coo ca choo.
Thousands of walrus have appeared on Alaska's northwest coast in what conservationists are calling a dramatic consequence of global warming melting the Arctic sea ice.
Alaska's walrus, especially breeding females, in summer and fall are usually found on the Arctic ice pack. But the lowest summer ice cap on record put sea ice far north of the outer continental shelf, the shallow, life-rich shelf of ocean bottom in the Bering and Chukchi seas.
Walrus feed on clams, snails and other bottom dwellers. Given the choice between an ice platform over water beyond their 630-foot diving range or gathering spots on shore, thousands of walrus picked Alaska's rocky beaches.
"It looks to me like animals are shifting their distribution to find prey," said Tim Ragen, executive director of the federal Marine Mammal Commission. "The big question is whether they will be able to find sufficient prey in areas where they are looking."
Right On The War, Way Wrong On Water
Bill Richardson is stupid about taking water from Wisco to serve cities in the Southwest that shouldn't even be in existence. He just lost my potential vote.

At Least He Had The Money
To hire a lawyer to make this stupid argument.
My emphasis.
Senator Larry E. Craig failed today in his effort to withdraw his guilty plea in connection with an undercover sex sting operation. The decision dealt the Idaho Republican a crippling setback in his attempt to hold on to his seat and caused new anxiety for other Republicans.
A Minnesota judge rejected Mr. Craig’s arguments entirely, declaring that, contrary to what Mr. Craig asserted, his guilty plea was made unambiguously and without coercion.
“The defendant, a career politician with a college education, is of, at least, above-average intelligence,” Judge Charles A. Porter Jr. ruled in Hennepin County District Court. “He knew what he was saying, reading, and signing.”
My emphasis.
