Quack, quack - sure sounds like a duck. Maybe oink, oink would get response. Hat tip to NHVet.
"Do what I say, not what I do
Local political gadfly JJ Blonien is all for less government.
Except when he's looking to get paid.
Blonien, editor of the right-wing Wisconsin Conservative Digest, has taken a job as a part-time staffer for state Sen. Tom Reynolds, earning $19,000 a year, plus health insurance and retirement benefits.
'It's not going to be a long gig,' Blonien suggested, defensively. 'I don't see myself being there past June.'
During that time, Blonien said, he will be working from home doing research for the West Allis Republican on a sexual predator bill and on legislation requiring that ethanol make up 10% of regular-grade gasoline, a proposal Reynolds is fighting.
In an interview, Blonien downplayed his role as an adviser to Reynolds, though the Conservative Digest has repeatedly propped up the first-term senator following reports on his sometimes bizarre bills and behavior. Blonien said he has been in Reynolds' office only four times and calls him only once a month.
The decision to seat Blonien at the state government trough was a mutual decision, he said.
But how can this critic of big government justify hopping onto the state payroll?
Responded Blonien: 'I don't see myself as a government employee.'
Hmmm, taxpayer-paid salary, taxpayer-paid insurance, taxpayer-paid pension, all without having to leave the comfort of his home - sure sounds like one sweet government job to us."
