The Wonderful World Of The Internets-Tubes

I clicked on a link I thought would take me to a page about wooden lure making, instead --

Your Liberal Media

This article begins:
FOR the backers of Proposition 8, the state ballot measure to stop single-sex couples from marrying in California, victory has been soured by the ugly specter of intimidation.
My emphasis, but it gets worse as it goes along. The poor folks who donated to that awful, hateful Prop 8 don't like the clean, sunny air to disinfect their sordid homophobia. If you can read that opening paragraph & not know what the author, Brad Stone, believes, well...opaque government to you too. When we talk about the great whine of the west, we can add open democracy to the list of complaints about big guvmint - grazing rights, drilling rights, those annoying Native Americans. What gets me is that if Prop. 8, or any other cause, is worthy of your check, why shouldn't it be worthy of your name? These donor list laws do an invaluable service in the support of honest, open democratic government. Just because you donated to a hate amendment should not give you the right to anonymity, any donation carries with it the assumption that something is being purchased, & since the election is a government's business, those who opted to purchase influence need to be named. These morons ought to be proud of their donation, if they actually believe the bullshit that is spread about marriage. These conservatives like to whine rather than stand up.

Again, we really don't have much of a liberal media, get Brad Stone's word choice in this paragraph:
Mr. Clare said the site perverts the meaning of disclosure laws that were originally intended to expose large corporate donors who might be seeking to influence big state projects.
Perverts indeed! My emphasis.

BTW, here is the LINK to the Prop 8 Maps. If you haven't already been there, do it now & see if the friendliest guy on your block is a secret hater. Then do something about it. Please, no violence, we're Americans after all. Again, let's see if we can get some of Wisco's haters to start crying about the mean, old (in my case, anyway) bloggers & roving gangs of lesbians that are making their lives hard, I tell you, hard. Unless, of course, the aforementioned hard(ness) is penile/clitoral in designation. Then never mind. Watch out for those pink Charter Arms pistols, however, I here they shoot real straight.

Charter Pink Lady Revolver 53830, 38 Special, 2 in, Black Synthetic Grip, Pink Aluminum Alloy / Stainless Steel Finish, 5 Rd

"...each has attained a measure of success."

I used to show my dogs, back when I could actually run a pattern in a ring. A couple of my dogs became show champions, but they were handled to their majors by good, knowledgeable friends, or professional handlers. This story if about a family of handlers, presently three siblings. It's sort of interesting if you are sort of interesting, got it loyal four readers? Good.
The most active handlers can earn more than $100,000 a year....

That little number got your attention, didn't it? It sounds great, but believe me, there is so much work involved as to be mind-numbing. My emphasis.

I'm Confused

How does a pediatrician have the time to do so much business cooking? While a person can certainly do whatever she likes to do, I actually think the following should have disqualified her brother from any position.
Monica Turner, Mr. Steele’s sister and an ex-wife of the former boxer Mike Tyson....
My emphasis. I mean, really now, come on, for cripe's sake. Here's the pediatrician in question, before the divorce, I presume.

Here's more on the story from Black Political Thought. A question asked & answered, quite nicely.
This begs the question of why he was elected as the chairman when he has faced allegations of mishandling of campaign money in prior elections and was twice fined for missing filing deadlines. They selected him because they wanted to make a statement -- a black man is the chairman of the RNC to match President Obama's historic ascent to the presidency. So what? This clearly isn't the right person for the position and with that dark cloud over his head, he should be the last person to criticize President Obama.
My emphasis. & that's from a self-described "...daily dose of conservative commentary...." A daily dose, heh, heh. Oh, sorry, I was thinking of the clap or something. Reading conservative ??thought?? always does that to me, sorry, I'll get my feet out of the gutter now.

Dewey Martin, R.I.P.

Obit here. I love this song, since it really does explain, pretty much, why I hate most cops. If you've ever been followed for a half a dozen miles, then put up against your car, frisked, & then having to show your "papers", all for flashing the peace sign, well, maybe then you would understand the deep antipathy, almost vicious cynicism, & loathing I feel for that "...man with a gun over there...."

Here you go:
ARTIST: Buffalo Springfield
TITLE: For What It's Worth
Lyrics and Chords

There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

/ E - A - / / / / E D A C /

There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away

We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

The above is the best I can do for a video.

OK, so this isn't "For What Its Worth", but Neil Young was a member of Buffalo Springfield, so, to heck with you, sue my sorry ass.

Is Jimmy Carter Having A Last Sad Laugh?

Peanuts, anyone?
The plant manager told inspectors that workers didn't clean the exposed areas and didn't realize the insecticide couldn't be used around food.
Another colossal failure of the educational system in America, or maybe just Georgia. My emphasis.

Nice

Kudos to Sec. Salazar for doing the right thing. I, too, was surprised by Salazar's action, since he doesn't have much of an environmental background. Maybe winning is helping all of us perk up a bit.
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar is canceling oil and gas leases on 77 parcels of federal land in Utah, according to sources familiar with the decision, ending a fierce battle over whether to allow energy exploration in the environmentally sensitive area.

Bu$hCo's Legacy, Part Number, Oh, Who Cares?

Another reason why Bu$hCo's whole notion of governance was completely flawed from the get-go. This whole notion of industry "cooperation" began with Alzheimer Ronnie, but since then, it's been clear that you cannot trust any industry to police itself, much less do the right thing for the people of this nation.

The F.D.A. can seize a product that it suspects is contaminated, and it can ask a federal judge for authority to recall products if a maker refuses to do so. The agency can also announce that it suspects problems with a product before the company agrees to a recall. But it rarely does any of these.

Bill Marler, a food safety lawyer in Seattle, said the agency had neither the authority nor the courage it needed to keep the food supply safe.

Michael R. Taylor, a former top official at the food agency, said change was needed.

“F.D.A. negotiates communications about recalls with companies,” (WTF? ed.) Mr. Taylor said, “and that sometimes leads to delays. Changing that dynamic when people are getting seriously ill and dying is something that ought to happen.”

My emphasis, but anyone with a compassionate brain can see what's happening. Hopefully, none of my loyal four readers where touched by the peanut butter fiasco - a lunchtime staple in coldH2Oville. We've been fine, with no thanks to the FDA.

Smarter

I have always felt that those bloggers who referred to the moron Bu$hCo as a chimpanzee were hitting below the belt. Chimps have been always been clever & now they have discovered that chimps, young chimps, are indeed clever.
Humans overtake chimpanzees in development terms as they grow older but the study sends stark warnings that looking after just an infant’s physical needs is likely to result in a child who is maladjusted, unhappy and under-achieving.
"maladjusted"? "under-achieving"? "child"? Sound sadly familiar? Yeah, me too.

Screw You, Phil

& thanks for nothing.

May I humbly suggest this culinary masterpiece for today's supper?

Ingredients

* This recipe came from the Mountin(sic) Makin's in the Smokies Cookbook. The note above the recipe states that this recipe was received from someone's mother-in-law.
* Ground Hog
* spicewood branches
* salt, pepper to taste
* flour
* bacon greese(sic) or 1/2 cup shortening

Directions

1. Dress and cut it up. Put in pot, then bring to boil. Break up spicewood branches and put in pot with meat. Boil until meat is tender. Remove; then salt and pepper; then roll in flour; put in 1/2 cup shortening, preferably bacon grease. Then put in oven and bake until it is brown.

Supper?

Ratzo Is Earning His Name, & The Roman Catholic Church Is Hellbent On Retreating To 101 C.E. Or Something Like That

Hate is one the rise in the Roman Catholic Church, as in:
Austrian priest gets promoted, even after claiming Katrina to be a work of the hand of god to straighten up (& I mean straighten up) the residents of New Orleans.
In 2005, Wagner was quoted in a parish newsletter as saying that he was convinced that the death and destruction of Hurricane Katrina earlier that year was "divine retribution" for New Orleans' tolerance of homosexuals and laid-back sexual attitudes.

Here's the second thing: a Holocaust denier Pope Ratzo rehabilitated (i.e. un-excommunicated) this moron.
"I believe there were no gas chambers... I think that two to three hundred thousand Jews perished in Nazi concentration camps but none of them by gas chambers."

Not That It Matters Much To Me

But I must report that after a great multi-course meal: mussels, fruit, & salad, then t-bones & potato salad, the Cardinals lost,
Steelers - 27 Cardinals - 23

Oh, & there were crooked refs hanging around Tampa, FL, last seen leaving the stadium.

Ingemar Johansson, R.I.P.

Obit here. What an exciting fight his victory over Floyd Patterson was. I actually remember that fight & the two tough ones that followed, fights that Patterson won. Looking back, I believe that the heavyweight division of boxing opened my eyes in terms of race. For some reason, Patterson, Liston, & the great "Greatest!" Ali became heroes to a white kid in far north Wisco. I have mentioned the green AM radio that opened up the world to me, or, at least, WLS & that other station where Dick Biondi was a DJ. More here.

Michael Gableman, Stupider Than I Suspected

& I suspected he would make a moron appear to be Bertrand Russell.* Gableman just handed down his first, um, opinion. He attempts to be, what, Solomon? by sort of agreeing with the majority & sort of paying the Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce back for the millions they threw his way in the worst election in the history of Wisco. Gableman is someone to be truly ashamed of, here in Wisco. He's right up there with Jeffrey Dahmer, Joe McCarthy, Ed Gein, &, of course, the Dairy Princess. There is still the controversy surrounding Gableman's relationship with certain goats that needs to be settled, but, hey, he's got to pay back the WMC first. K-Y jelly anyone? Y'all can go here to read more.

*"If there were in the world today any large number of people who desired their own happiness more than they desired the unhappiness of others, we could have paradise in a few years."

Stinking It Up

Sorry for that. The Kid sends along this which concerns the important international diplomacy the Bu$hCo assministration was working on during the final days of his attempt to ruin America. Frankly, I am surprised by this action since it would seem that anything that would cover up the stink of the Bu$hCo years would be welcome by Bu$hCo himself. I suppose he wanted to give the French one last poke in the nose.
